March 8 It's Woman's Day in Russia

March 8th

Today is “Woman’s Day” in Russia.  It is an official holiday and a paid day off from work.  It is different from “Mother’s Day” in the US because it is for all women.  Not sure much about it, but it is a BIG deal in this country.  So yesterday, Thursday, the office had a celebration party at work.
What we didn’t realize at the time was that it was a “bring your own chair” party.  Lewis is such a gentleman carrying my chair down.

As usual they have tons of food.  This picture shows some of the food, but there was lots of raw vegetables and bananas oranges and grapes also plenty of different salads and meats and of course alcohol, especially vodka.
Look at the bottom of this bottle......PoPo....I bet it tastes that way too.....ha ha!!!

One thing we have noticed is typically there isn’t dessert served, if there is a dessert it is a few candies.   There ended up being about 40 people at one time eating, and then a few others came later when they had a chance to leave their various places of employment.

Not sure how this tastes, and I’m pretty sure I will never try it.  I believe it is a congealed fat or maybe just an unflavored gelatin, not sure but someone else can eat it.

So as they kept saying in Russia, Congratulations on your Woman’s Day!!!
