July 21, 2012 First day in Moscow

We took the train from Velikiye Luki early in the morning (2:20am) to Moscow. Lewis and I had someone sharing the compartment with us this time and it was quite interesting. When we walked into the compartment he was sitting on the bottom bunk with his head down on the table and he didn't even wake up with us coming in and getting situated to sleep. He was obviously drunk and passed out. We did not sleep real well needless to say........
Picture of the window outside of our compartment and a picture of the train car #7 we were in.........

This plant looked better because of the little ladybugs..............
Got to Moscow around 9:30am. Yulia helped us check in at the hotel then she gave us some very good pointers and tips and then we were on our own for the weekend.
The iPhone app that helped the most............
Took pictures of these two helpful signs for reference. First says "Access to the City" and the second lets us know which direction to take to where the motel is...........

We figured out through Metro and bus how to get to a big shopping mall called Mega. It also has an IKEA store. So we did a little shopping............
We saw SHOES, CARS, TOYS, CLOTHES and Burger King..........

But, what exactly is "Women's Secret?"
Back to the hotel to watch our little bitty TV, and have some yummy cookies from the train!! This orange juice bottle was in the refrigerator and I thought it was a cool shape........

  2. umm - about the train compartment - I've wanted to experience sleeping on a train but not with another unknown person sharing the space - No way - you are more brave then me but then I guess if I had no other choice I guess I would have a sleepless night too -- wink! So maybe I am brave too - giggle! I see these signs and look at the letters of the words and say to myself how could one ever learn to read that language? In Mexico they have Mega super market there too but not IKEA. I like that bottle too -did you save the orange juice bottle and use it as a vase for your kitchen table - like having a flower a day put into it - just saying.. Glad your have a bit of time off - enjoying the sights..
